Jarrodean is delighted to be supporting an exciting new collaboration between the States of Guernsey and Dementia UK with the creation of two Admiral Nurse posts.

Applications are now invited from suitably qualified and experienced General, Mental Health or Learning Disabilities Nurses with Dementia experience for the role of Band 7 Lead Admiral Nurse.
The role includes the provision of the Level 7 Admiral Nurse Competency Framework Module, if not already completed.

What do Admiral Nurses do?
- Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses. Continually supported and developed by Dementia UK, they provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.
- As dementia specialists, Admiral Nurses help families manage complex needs, considering the person living with dementia and the people around them, and can advise other healthcare professionals.
- Admiral Nurses help people living with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so that they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days.
- They can work in different care settings: in the community, in care homes, on the Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline, in hospitals, in hospices and in clinics.
- For families affected by dementia, you can be a lifeline.

The Older Adult Service in Guernsey has a four in-patient centres; as well as Day Services and a Community Team comprising a MDT of Band 6 and Band 7 CPNs, OT, Social Worker.
Reporting to the Service Manager for Mental Health, the Band 7 Lead Admiral Nurse will manage a Band 6 Admiral Nurse and be in regular communication with inpatient and community Older Adult Mental Health teams.

Please note; Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scale.
The current Guernsey Band 7 salary is up to �58,081 plus an annual bonus of �1,350 and higher unsocial hours enhancements; 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/BH.
Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS service for annual leave and sick leave.

Person requirements:
- Registered General, Mental Health or Learning Disabilities Nurse with full NMC Registration
- Current or recent Band 6 or equivalent Admiral Nurse or appropriate Dementia-specific experience.
- Post-graduate qualification in Dementia and willingness to complete further Level 7 qualification.
- Demonstrate all the 6 Admiral Nurse competencies: Person-centred care, Therapeutic skills, Triadic relationship centred working, Sharing knowledge, Delivering best practice and Critical reflective practice.
