Due to securing the National Highways Area 9 contract, we are looking for Zonal Response Operatives to join us. These roles are all about delivering works in response to incidents across the network within the contract.

The work is manual. It’s outdoors in all weathers and it’s physically demanding. But it’s also rewarding. You’ll be part of a team, pulling for each other and working together to keep the network safe. You’ll be working in live traffic environments.

The rota is 4 on / 4 off and you’ll average 42 hours a week. This means weekends & bank holidays are working days on your rota. On average, you’ll work 182.5 days over the year. We have day and night shifts so can work either, or both. We provide training, PPE and everything you need to deliver in your role.
Package DescriptionAs well as a highly competitive salary, Colas offers some great benefits with this role, including:
• A generous pension contribution
• Life assurance cover (x4 basic salary)
• 21 days annual leave + bank holidays (with the option to buy/sell more)
• Flexible working policy
• Opportunity to study towards a professional qualification fully funded
• Ongoing training and personal/professional development
• Discounts on car leasing, holidays, cinema tickets, restaurants and much more through our online employee benefits portal
Main ResponsibilitiesEmployed by Colas Ltd, you’ll be working across the Midlands on light maintenance including things like sign cleaning and litter picking. You may have experience of traffic management previously where you could have needed NHSS 12A/B accreditations and experience.

The contract is spread across a wide geographical area including Gloucester, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands, Worcester, and Herefordshire
The Ideal CandidateIdeally, we’d love you to bring existing skills, accreditations, and experience from within the industry. However, we know what the market is like in the construction industry and because of this, we’re also interested in speaking to anyone who would like to begin a career in this industry.

Having an HGV Class C1 license would be an advantage but if you don’t have one, please don’t be put off as we can help you get one.

Career progression is available if you want it. In fact, it’s promoted and genuinely achievable. As a company, we want to see you develop and grow your career.
