We are looking for a “Safeguarding Lead” to come and join our specialised services that consists of, Sexual health, Dermatology and Prison services. HCRG Care Group mandate is to meet responsibilities to safeguard/protect children, young people, and Adults.

This role will be home-based with travel to site on occasion, depending on site location overnight stay might be required.

Main ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible / accountable within the managerial framework of Sexual Health, Dermatology and Prison Services:


Work as a member of the of Sexual Health, Dermatology and Prison senior leadership team as the wider HCRG Care Group safeguarding
To develop programmes/ pathways that support the local safeguarding team to deliver their contractual obligations and to optimise the health outcome for children, young people, and adults
Participate in multi-agency subgroups of the LSP/and safeguarding sub-groups
Advise local police, children and / or adult social care and other statutory and voluntary agencies on health matters, as required regarding safeguarding
Support and advise colleagues in their responsibility to safeguarding children within service provision through HCRG Care Group’s clinical governance processes
Support, advise and provide safeguarding assurance to the local quality, assurance meeting
Provide assurance to the safeguarding and looked after children sub-committee
Strategic planning and organisation of safeguarding services
Work with other organisational specialist safeguarding/ child and adult professionals on planning and developing a strategy for safeguarding/child/adult services.
Support and advise other professionals on relevant legal frameworks and documentation.
Assess and evaluate evidence, write reports, and present information; for example: child protection conferences and related meetings, court reports
Contribute to service, local, and multi-agency safeguarding reviews, for example Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Section 42 Enquires (The Care Act 2014)
Ensure that specialised services, HCRG Care Group has local safeguarding policies and standard operating procedures in line with HCRG Care Group national safeguarding policies, legislation, national guidance, and LSCP multi-agency procedures
Tailor provision to meet the learning needs of participant
Develop the implementation of safeguarding supervision by the Safeguarding Champions
Embed all aspects of the organisational safeguarding supervision policy and process
Advise colleagues on the implementation of effective systems of audit.


Outline of Provisional Job Schedule:

This role is predominantly home-based/ remote working. It is expected that approximately 75% time will be dedicated to sexual health and dermatology services and 25% time spent dedicated to prison safeguarding.

Some travel is required. It is anticipated that the post holder would attend Norwich prison monthly. Sexual Health and Dermatology services to be visited as per service requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
Education/Qualifications - Be registered on either Part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register as a registered general nurse (adults) or registered children’s nurse
Experience - Have completed specific post-registration training in safeguarding adults and / or children and young people/child protection prior to commencement in the post (including law, policy, and practice at Level 2 or Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip)
Minimum of three years’ experience practising in the field of safeguarding.
Write detailed and comprehensive reports and reviews
Excellent IT skills
Excellent communication skills
Excellent literacy skills
Able to work effectively with children, young people, and adults
Must have ability to travel effectively across the locality
Knowledge and Understanding
Understanding of the health needs and complex health issues of adults, children, and Looked after Children
Awareness of importance of confidentiality and legislation associated with information sharing
Good understanding of health promotion practice
