Our client is a carpentry and construction company based in East Grinstead, that is well established and fast growing. They cater for the domestic market across the Southern Home Counties and offer all aspects of carpentry.

They work with individual homeowners building high-quality extensions and refurbishments. They also work with property developers and can take on projects of up to six new homes. From specific carpentry projects through to new builds and roofs, their carpentry and joinery skills add a unique touch to all of their work.

Due to expansion they are now looking for an experienced Estimator, to support the Managing Director.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is excited about the prospect of joining a growing company, where they can bring their experience and new ideas to help shape the future of the firm.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in residential construction helping the operation run smoothly and will have the ability to think clearly and analytically in terms of how they price tenders, as well as how they financially control the running of projects.

At present this position will involve working remotely from home.

Job Requirements:

* Experience working on residential projects is essential, and you must have a good understanding of construction contracts
* Solid experience of financial management and cost control

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

* Pricing of projects of �25k - �3 million
* Preparation of estimates and cost plans
* Ability to take off and schedule projects from construction drawings
* Provide commercial expertise and be responsible for the financial delivery on various projects
* Be pro-active in identifying the existence of all variations (changes) to the works in conjunction with other project team members
* Valuing site instructions and day works
* Price and agree all project variations
* Submit external valuations, making sure they meet the conditions of the main contract
* Full responsibility for the projects cash position
* Be pro-active in identifying the existence of any "claim" and "extension of time" situations in conjunction with other project team members
* Sub-contractor procurement
* Attend site meetings regularly, prepare project reports and be involved in post contract activities

General Skills:

* Able to build relationships quickly, have strong IT skills (particularly Microsoft Word/Excel) and have a commercial mind-set
* A desire to quickly develop their role and become an essential asset to the Company
* An ability to build and improve systems to streamline the tendering and cost management processes
* Excellent attention to detail
* The skillset to work independently, both from home and remotely as the role will not be exclusively office based
* Willingness to carry out site inspections and meet with clients


* Basic Salary �35-40k + bonus scheme - Subject to experience
