1:1 Teaching Assistant

The role
This specialist school caters for pupils aged 11- 16 years with SEMH needs. You will need to be able to work in a high-pressured environment, dealing with challenging behaviours and scenarios in a calm and professional manner. Your role will consist of meeting the needs of your specified pupil using their EHC plan and following the policies set in place by the school. Your priority is the pupil you are working with 1:1 and ensuring their learning and holistic development needs are being met throughout your time with them, you will have the support of the class teacher, however you are responsible for their day-to-day well-being and completion of tasks and meeting targets. You will need to be able to easily follow a behaviour and EHC plan for this pupil, following this will make your role easier and everything in place for your pupil will be fully supported through these documents.
* Full-time role (8.30am-3.15pm)

The school
This specialist school caters for the needs of 82 pupils aged 11-16 years with SEMH additional needs. The school's aims are to enable each pupil to enjoy learning, make progress and become as independent as possible and to build their self-esteem and confidence through developing effective means of communication.
Experience is desirable but not essential, Teaching Personnel can offer you various training courses to build your knowledge and experience (behaviour management, safeguarding).
