GIS Data Technician
Location: Birmingham / Hybrid
Salary: £32,150 - £43,355

A business specialising in the delivery of a high-speed rail scheme is currently recruiting for a GIS Data Technician to join their Land Assembly Team based in Birmingham. This team is responsible for land acquisition, compulsory purchase, and property management. As a GIS Data Technician, you will manage large property data sets and support land acquisition processes for the rail scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage the capture and processing of Land & Property acquisition records, including registered titles, possessed land, compulsory acquisition, and discretionary schemes
- Lead the preparation of maps and plans for land hand-backs, land transfers, and disposals.
- Derive additional datasets through advanced GIS analysis and processing.

Skills Required:

- Strong GIS data management skills, including digitising, data capture, analysis, assurance, and preparation of data schemes.
- Ability to coordinate with diverse stakeholder groups to agree on requirements.
- Proficient in analysing and manipulating data within a GIS and digital mapping environment.

Knowledge & Experience:

- Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS 10.3.1 desktop applications.
- Familiar with GIS task automation and database design.
- Experienced with ArcMap in infrastructure projects.
- Skilled in capturing, analysing, and assuring spatial data using Excel (or similar tools), GIS, and database reporting tools.
- Experience in writing macros to assist with GIS operations, such as plan production.
- Previous experience in a project or programme environment.
- Proficiency in FME and Python programming.
