An opportunity is available for a Stores & Inventory Manager based at Huthwaite or Exeter.
In this role, you will be working with Head of Operations Support to develop and implement a robust material supply chain. Delivering a 24/7 service as required to ensure NGED Field Ops and Major Projects meet their day to day business objectives and provide logistical emergency response.
You will need to have a continuous development approach for the effective and efficient management of goods to and from central warehousing, emergency stores and satellite stores with high volume, high value operational and strategic materials.
There will be some opportunity to hybrid working but there is a requirement to regularly work from the Huthwaite and/or Exeter depots.

Main Responsibilities
Lead, motivate and develop the Stores and Inventory Team (around 60 employees over two central warehouse sites)
Author and reviewer of Policy for effective material management
Lead and manage NGEDs material forecasting engaging with Field Ops, Major Projects and Procurement
Represent NGED as required internally and externally on material supply chain matters
Develop material management strategies in agreement with the Head of Operations Support
Prepare opex and capex budgets for approval
Agree appropriate SLA’s to ensure Field Ops and Major Projects are serviced for success
Ensure a data driven approach is developed and adopted for monitoring and driving optimum stock profiles for business effectiveness and efficiency
Seek new initiatives to maximise sustainability, reduce waste adopting a carbon neutral focus
Promote good employee relations and to create an environment that motivates and encourages the development of individuals with a strong D,E & I focus
Development of individuals to lead in accordance with National Grid values and create a team environment that leads to success
Accountability for all Stores & Inventory activities across all four licensed areas of NGED
Accountability for site facilities at central warehouse and off site emergency store locations
Develop business relationships with peers and key stakeholders
Ensure inventory is controlled and secure in accordance to Company Policy
Determine ways of improving performance
Ensure effective change management as required
Control and management of IT systems used for inventory control
Co-ordinate the formulation of Capital and Revenue Budgets and monitoring and controlling expenditure
Ensure safe system of working of staff and contractors
The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for an experienced leader with a clear understanding and experience of end to end supply chain management. You will have a strong background in budget management and be familiar with business information systems. Educated to at least level 2 (GCSE’s A*-C/4-9) including Maths and English and ideally holding a level 3 or higher qualification.
You must be an effective communicator and be able to build good working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Experience of safe management systems and legislation to manage and operate a warehouse facility are also essential to be successful in this role.
A full driving licence is required along with the ability to travel between the central warehouse facilities in Huthwaite and Exeter in addition to some travel across satellite depots.

Depending on the role, different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
