Senior Quantity Surveyor

The Role

Quantity Surveyors are integral members of project teams, whom provide daily support to both project delivery teams and senior management. This role offers the opportunity to develop existing skills while learning new ones in a collaborative and dynamic environment. Our client's ethos is to give their people the opportunity to demonstrate versatility in their skills and abilities, in order to meet the demands of managing a wide range of civil engineering projects and associated contractual requirements.

Our client's civil engineering and infrastructure projects vary in value, complexity, and duration from long-established frameworks to bespoke individual projects and urgent emergency works. With project values ranging from �200k to �10m+, you will play a crucial role in driving efficiencies, managing costs, and providing high-quality commercial analysis. Your commercial acumen will be key, enabling you to identify, track, and realise commercial opportunities while effectively mitigating risk.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial

Deliver accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels for Group reporting.

Provide accurate cash flow forecasting.

Undertake cost management and project forecasting.

Prepare and update monthly CVRs, cost reports, and commercial plans.

Compile upstream applications for payment and manage project cash flow.

Handle subcontract procurement, negotiation, and financial accounting.

Prepare project applications for payment and manage final account settlements.

Liaise with clients, their representatives, and other stakeholders on commercial matters, including contractual changes, claims, and payments.

Work with project teams to forecast expenditures and recoveries in line with business unit expectations.

Share best practices and support site teams on cost management and efficiency.

Identify and capitalise on commercial opportunities.

Protect our client from commercial risks.

Contracts

Manage contract and subcontract agreements, primarily using IChemE and NEC forms.

Ensure contracts are aligned with our client's corporate governance and that risks and opportunities are identified and managed with project teams.

Oversee subcontract procurement and post-contract management.

Ensure supply chain partners are appropriately engaged with the right contract terms.

Build and maintain strong relationships with the supply chain.

Processes

Support internal commercial processes through adherence to deadlines and compliance standards.

Proactively seek improvements in processes and procedures.

Key Measures and Targets

Accurate internal and external financial forecasting.

Ability to interrogate and challenge cost records and data.

Mitigate commercial risks and identify commercial opportunities.

Deliver profit in line with business unit goals.

Meet deadlines in accordance with the commercial calendar.

Produce high-quality commercial documentation.

Maintain strong supply chain, stakeholder, and client relationships.
