About UsWe are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Family Information Service team as an Information Officer.The Family information Service provide free information, advice and assistance on:finding and paying for childcareplay and leisure for children, young people and familieshelp for families with disabled childrenfamily and parenting supportThe service also support professionals in their work with children, young people and families by providing a centralised information resource to help guide customers to the services and information that they need.About the RoleDeliver a brokerage service for parents in particular need, liaising directly with providers and professionals where appropriate & required.Work with families, professionals and providers in the provision of a brokerage service in order to:work in detail with families to identify their particular need for information or support;identify what providers can offer in order to meet a particular family’s needs;liaise between families and providers to identify any additional actions required to meet families’ needs;as appropriate, refer families or providers on to other professionals in order to access other sources of help and supportEncourage the take up of 2 year old entitlement places by supporting parents and professionals complete the application process and providing information about suitable places.Attend outreach events across the county and work with the local community - This role will predominantly be covering North Oxfordshire.Maintain and update accurate, high quality information on childcare, early years provision and other services of benefit to parents, prospective parents, children or young persons in Oxfordshire. Use this information to support the Family Information Services’ role in responding to enquiries.About youYou will have experience handling information and updating databases/ IT systems.You will have Knowledge of early years & childcare provision and of a wider range of services for children, young people & familiesYou will also be a Highly effective communicator with experience of delivering information and advice via telephone, email and face-to-faceYou will be able to travel throughout the county and hold a full driving licence with access to a vehicle.A confident individual, who is able to represent the family information service in the local community and promote the service at events / meetings.Your office base may be subject to change as we are currently transitioning between temporary and permanent office locations due to the closure of County Hall.
