Here, you have the freedom to work in a way that suits you, the support to thrive and the opportunity to shape your career.What you'll doAt Nottingham College, we are seeking a highly capable and versatile Electrical and Electronic Engineering Lecturer who can deliver across FE and HE engineering provision, from Level 1 through to Level 5, with the ability to support learners progressing towards bachelor’s degree-level study.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering practitioner or lecturer who is confident delivering both practical electronics workshop-based learning and analytically rigorous classroom teaching.You will play a key role in supporting learners at every stage of their engineering journey, from foundation learners developing core technical skills to higher-level students studying advanced engineering principles, electronic systems, programming and applied mathematics.About the roleWe are looking for an engineer with strong knowledge and practical experience in electrical and electronic engineering, with the ability to teach the theory and application of engineering principles across a range of levels.The successful candidate will be confident delivering subjects linked to:Electrical and electronic principlesEngineering systemsAnalogue and digital electronicsProgramming for engineersMATLAB and simulation-based problem solvingPractical electronics workshop skillsControl systems and automationEngineering mathematics and applied scienceThe ability to support CAD or engineering design would be highly advantageous.You will deliver across FE and HE provision, supporting programmes including:Level 1 and Level 2 EngineeringLevel 3 BTEC and T Level EngineeringLevel 4/5 HNC/HND EngineeringHigher-level learners progressing towards bachelor’s degree-level studyThe successful candidate will combine strong subject knowledge with the adaptability, learner focus and high expectations required within an FE and HE environment.What you will teachElectrical and Electronic EngineeringYou will be expected to deliver a range of electrical and electronic engineering topics, including:Electrical science and circuit theoryAC and DC circuitsElectronic principles and systemsAnalogue electronicsDigital electronicsSensors, actuators and transducersElectrical machines and power systemsControl systems and automationPLCs, embedded systems and microcontrollersFault finding, testing and measurementPractical electronics workshop activitiesProgramming and Engineering SoftwareYou should be confident supporting learners with programming and engineering software used within electrical and electronic engineering. This may include:MATLAB for engineering analysis, modelling and simulationProgramming concepts and problem solvingUse of programming languages relevant to engineering applicationsSimulation of circuits, control systems or electronic systemsData analysis and technical computationApplication of software to solve engineering problemsExperience with additional programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Arduino or similar would be beneficial.Engineering Principles, Mathematics and ScienceYou will also support the delivery of core underpinning engineering knowledge, including:Engineering principlesEngineering systemsApplied mathematics for engineersAlgebra, trigonometry and calculusApplied physics and engineering scienceAnalytical problem-solvingInterpretation of technical data and calculationsYou must be confident teaching engineering principles, electronic theory, applied mathematics and engineering systems to higher-level learners, while also supporting foundation learners in developing confidence and core technical skills.Design and CADAlthough the main focus of the role is electrical and electronic engineering, knowledge of CAD would be highly desirable.
