Architectural technologist Telford Contract Architectural Technologist Telford! I am currently looking to recruit an Architectural Technologist to join a great team working from Telford. This is a contract role and the length of the contract will depend on the candidate and workload. The role will include: -Preparation of design layouts and detailed drawings / specification, using ArchiCAD and other software for a range of building projects including schools, community and leisure buildings, offices, retail and housing schemes. -On small / medium sized projects the post holder will take on the role of design coordinator and will be responsible for: oLeading the design team without supervision, from inception to completion oLiaise with clients to understand requirements and develop imaginative, value for money solutions with regard to internal arrangement, external appearance, durability, quality and budget oDeveloping feasibility studies and outline designs for presentation to clients oCompleting tender documents including construction drawings and specifications oAdminister building contracts (such as JCT Minor Works of Intermediate form) without supervision, and certification of stage payments. -The post holder will work closely with the project architect on larger more complex projects, and duties will include: oIn conjunction with the architect and other design team members developing appropriate strategies to respond to the client's brief and site ensuring the successful integration of structure, services and ICT with the building fabric oSpecification of materials oPreparation of planning and building regulation applications oDetail design and specification of elements and junctions in the building, being mindful of aesthetics, durability and the need to attain a sustainable solution. oPreparation of working drawings and specifications to enable tenders to be invited oProviding support for the contract administration including liaison with contractors and the updating of drawings and other information -Liaising and negotiating with statutory and regulatory bodies such as Building Control and Planning, Fire Officers and service utilities to ensure that the proposals comply with legislation including CDM and other health & safety legislation. Qualifications required are; -Degree or a Diploma in Building Surveying or Architecture -Member of the Architects Registration Board or working towards or the equivalent from one of the other professional bodies such as RICS or CIOB -Must have a sound knowledge of building construction and technology and building legislation and be able to devise technical solutions of a high standard. -Must be computer literate and have good knowledge of ArchiCad and other building management software packages. -Knowledge of project management techniques, and the ability to plan and programme a number of jobs at the same time. -Knowledge of legislation affecting design and construction is essential including CDM Regulations -Must have good oral and written presentation skills and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, design team members clients, and contractors. -Good CAD and ArchiCad drawing and visual presentation skills -Good organisation skills -Good technical skills to all the post holder to consider different design solutions at a detailed level. -Good leadership skills and able to undertake role as design team leader -Experience of the conceptual and detail design of complex new build and refurbishment projects -Experience of working as part of and also leading multi disciplinary project teams working to financial and time deadlines -Experience of contract administration including the day to day liaison and communication with contractors, clients, statutory authorities -Experience of having successfully completed a number of high quality projects including schools -Experience of leading design teams on small / medium sized projects would be desirable -Experience of contract administration including the day - day liaison and communication with contractors, clients, statutory authorities such as Building Control is essential -Experience of designing solutions from inception to completion on small / medium sized projects -Experience of having successfully completed full working drawing packages on a number of complex schemes -Good commercial acumen -Must be able to relate to and get on well with other team members, have a strong customer focus and be able to develop positive working relations with clients, contractors and design team members. -Must have good communication skills. -Must be able to work well under pressure to meet time scales, and quality standards, and be able to deal with a number of tasks at one time. -Must have initiative and a determination to deliver successful projects for clients, of a high standard on time and within budget. -The post holder will receive Essential Car User Allowance This is a great opportunity so call me on 0121 685 8700 or Email Your expert recruitment consultant is Seema Rana, call today on 0121 685 8700 or email Eden Brown is committed to equality in the workplace and is an equal opportunity employer.
