We are a leading design and manufacturing company actively seeking a Drawing Checker to work on a 6-month contract. The purpose of the role is to ensure the quality of the design departments' Technical Product Documentation, that is produced in accordance with both published national/international standards, and company design standards in a timely fashion in line with programme release schedules. The responsibilities of the Drawing Checker are as follows; KEY RESPONSIBILITIES *Check and approve engineering drawings from the points of view of; technical completeness, clarity, conformance with standards, dimensional accuracy and the correct specification of materials and processes *Check and approve tolerance stack analyses for technical completeness and correctness *To assist the Principal Design Engineer with promoting and developing a generally higher level of engineering drawing, GD&T and tolerance stack analysis skills across the team through one-to-one mentoring and group training activities where required EXPERIENCE oEngineering drawing authoring or checking within a mechanical design environment, preferably in a relevant field such as internal combustion engines, transmission, pumps and other complex machinery oWorking within an environment of continuous and rapid technical change *A thorough technical understanding of mechanical engineering drawing principles, including (but not limited to): oFundamentals such as projection angles, line types, view types, dimensioning methods, title block and change block information oDifferent drawing types and their usages; part vs GA for example oTheory and application of GD&T oDatum systems and the appropriate usage of the different types of datum systems Including a comprehensive understanding of the use of datum target systems as applied to complex shaped/moulded parts, and how these translate into real world manufacturing and/or inspection jigs and fixtures oLimits and fits oSurface roughness specification *A thorough technical understanding of relevant industry-standard TPD standards, namely: oBS 8888:2017 oISO GPS framework as published by ISO/TC 213 With an expert understanding of the fundamental (as defined by ISO/TR 14638:2015) standards, including ISO 8015:2011 A good understanding of the chain & chain link system of the ISO GPS matrix model Orion Electrotech Ltd acts as both an Employment Business and Employment Agency and complies with the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations Act 2003.
