In addition to the Job Description there will be an expectation to complete court duties on a regular basis. This would include Youth Court (including Trials), Magistrates and Crown Court.

Enhanced DBS (Valid 12 months) and HCPC registration required

Purpose:

To maintain, support and promote a comprehensive high quality service to young people, the Courts and local communities, working in a non-discriminatory manner and in accordance with National and Service Policy.

Key Duties:

* Undertake direct observation of YOS Support Workers and YOS Practitioner staff and provide written feedback to line managers
* Act as Case Worker in line with Case Management guidance and Youth offending Service risk policy and National Standards to assess, plan, and deliver interventions in with young people including Looked After Children
* Take responsibility for case management including high risk cases in line with SYOS risk policy
* Make referrals to the YOS Support Worker, as appropriate and evaluate outcomes as part of case management
* Support young people to engage in ETE, resettlement activities and reparation and encourage engagement in mainstream services and positive Activities
* Contribute to the development of Restorative Justice and devise and operate systems to ensure all Restorative Justice activity is completed in line with requirements
* Develop, deliver and evaluate 1:1 and group work interventions to ensure that the substance misuse is addressed
* Act as Court Officer, Duty Officer and Appropriate Adult in line with Service requirements
* Personally accountable for delivering services efficiently, effectively, within budget and to implement any approved savings and investment allocated to the service area

Essential:

* Qualified Social Workers are required to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
* A relevant professional qualification: DipSw / CQSW or Dip PS
* Appropriate current full driving licence and provision of a reliable fully insured vehicle for work use
* Experience of working with young people
* Experience of inter agency work
* Knowledge of legislation applicable to the youth justice sector
* Understanding of legislation applicable to the Youth Justice sector and principles of effective practice relating to Youth Justice
* Knowledge of the range of pre / court disposals
* Understanding of theory and methods of intervention with young people who have offended
* Ability to work within courts and a diverse range of settings to promote effective practice
* Experience of devising and delivering group work
* Ability to manage caseload and conflicting priorities
* Evidence of good working relationships with young people
* Awareness of needs of young people / families in multicultural society and commitment to equal opportunities and anti discriminatory practice
* Knowledge and application of assessment processes
* Ability to develop positive working relationships with staff which are consistent with enhancing Service delivery
* Proven track record of using assessment and planning process in meeting the needs of Service Users and public protection
* Knowledge and application of risk management principles and processes
* Ability to write reports to a high standard and maintain accurate records
