Teaching assistant required for SEN school in Erith – start asap!

I am currently working with a large SEN school that caters for students with autism and moderate learning difficulties. Both primary and secondary aged students come to school here and there is opportunity to work with either age group, dependent on your strengths.

I am looking for a teaching assistant with knowledge of the national curriculum, as many students are able to access the national curriculum levels. You must have good levels of numeracy and literacy and be confident in using ICT.

You must have experience of supporting children with autism. Some students are verbal but some are non-verbal and use either PECs or Makaton for communication. Training for either of these is highly desirable.

The role:

* Full time
* Starting asap
* Long term position with the potential to go permanent
* 1:1 support for different children with autism/moderate learning difficulties
* Work hours are 08:30 – 15:50 each day Monday – Friday
* Providing personal care (toileting and changing) may be involved and you must be prepared to assist with this
