Skills Direct are currently recruiting for our client based on the outskirts of Frome. Our client is seeking a Shift Quality Assurance Technician to join on a 12 week temp to perm basis. Providing both parties are happy you will join the team permanently after 12 weeks.

Hours of work: Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager/Technical Manager. Working on a shift pattern 07.00 - 19.00 4 days on 4 days off.

Salary: �19,000 - �21,000 DOE


Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably in Technical.

Strong personality who can prioritise, challenge and manage quality on shift via Production departments. Must have the strength and ability to make decisions that may impact on service level.

Good personal and communication skills. Must be able to work as a team and as an individual.

Tenacity and the ability to investigate non-conformances and pro-actively provide solutions.

Knowledge of bakery products and the issues that occur

Experience of managing Food Safety and Quality on shift.

Minimum requirement of Intermediate certificate in HACCP

Internal audit experience and qualification

Experience with both being audited and completing audits.

Be flexible to provide a reasonable amount of ASH (absence, sickness & holidays) cover where required

Job Role:

To ensure that all products produced and despatched are manufactured to the required customer specification.

To ensure food safety is maintained at all times, via HACCP/CCP monitoring, auditing and process auditing, including paperwork audits.

Monitoring of production to ensure that all hygiene and manufacturing standards comply with Marston Foods policy on a daily basis. This is achieved by daily, weekly and monthly auditing and through monitoring of shift hygiene operations.

Impacting on and reducing product waste via a proactive and hands-on quality monitoring process.

Carrying out and managing internal audits including daily HACCP, Hygiene Glass & Plastic.

Ensuring all quality monitoring equipment is within the required calibration and functioning within specified parameters.

Responsible for coordinating the TAYGO taste panel positive release process (panel leader) and monitoring product quality via sensory panels and line analysis.

Controlling QAS compliance requirements and product conformity through Quarantine & Hold, Corrective Action Reporting and Concession Control Procedures. Advising on Root Cause Analysis and Risk Assessment Processes as part of any required corrective action plans. Advising on the implementation of any additional corrective measures or preventative action including verification and completion of corrective action plans in a timely manner.

To be responsible for taking samples and swabs and following up non-conformances via quality alerts systems, re-testing and implementing corrective actions as required. Ensuring that micro schedule is met.

Driving continuous improvement through the business via new CI initiatives, quality investigations, root cause analysis and non-conformance corrective action management.

Be able to complete full traceability and mass balances of products and ingredients within required time lines and identity any areas of non-conformity where encountered.

Investigating complaints with reports and actions to help reduce consumer complaints.

Supporting and assisting other departments within the business – NPD and Production, as required.
