Health, Safety and Environmental Manager Role Purpose The role of the HS&E Manager is vital to the continued commitment Help-Link has to protect the health and safe wellbeing of its employees and customers and ensure compliance to local and national HS&E legislation. Reporting to the Head of HS&E within HomeServe Membership Ltd (HML), the role holder will develop, implement and deliver the strategic and operational direction of Help-Link in relation to the H&S management framework and H&S management systems. Provide suitable and sufficient advice to senior management, local management and employees in the field, for both Help Link and HML where required, giving them the opportunity to make an informed choice about significant HS&E management decisions and practices to effectively manage our working environment through proactive health, safety and environmental management. They will carry out this role in a professional and caring manner at all times. Key Duties · Manage and lead the local HS&E team ensuring all routine and non-routine programmes, actions and issues are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner. Ensure team members have the requisite skills, experience, qualification, knowledge and competence to perform the roles assigned to them. · Assist management in the development of consistent HS&E management good practices and standards for the company’s working environment in offices, the field and other workplaces. · Support the preparation of relevant Board and Management Committee reports as requested by the Head of and Director of HS&E for HML and/or the Chief Risk Officer. · Be the key point of contact for all issues relating to HS&E for Help-Link, taking the lead on all concerns raised ensuring all concerns are monitored effectively through to satisfactory completion. Lead the way by example for HS&E, leading and ensuring full contribution to a positive H&S culture throughout the business. · Develop management standards, procedures and associated documentation and processes to ensure that all areas of Help-Link comply with environmental, health and safety legislation and Help Links HS&E objectives. · Analyse incident trends and areas of risk, ensuring lessons learnt reports are prepared and disseminated to management colleagues and other key stakeholders. · Ensure environment, health and safety training needs are identified and delivered where appropriate and as required by good practice and legal obligation. · Liaise with external stakeholders including, but not limited to, the statutory regulators, legal representatives and industry bodies ensuring all reporting Regulatory requirements are met where applicable. · Work with IS colleagues to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are synergistic, current and deliverable. · Work collaboratively with the Network Support Team to ensure all network contractors undergo appropriate due diligence for environmental, health and safety performance. Key Skills & Experience · IOSH/IEMA Environmental Management qualification - Essential · Member of IOSH – Desirable · Hold a NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety – Essential · Hold or working towards the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety – Desirable · Hold and appropriate audit qualification – Desirable · Experience in managing a team of HS&E professionals – Essential · Minimum of 3 years working in health, safety and environmental role – Essential · Experience in dealing with and managing the performance of contractors – Essential · Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Able to communicate to all levels of the business from senior to shop floor – Essential · Be fully conversant and have experience in using IT/IS systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point – Essential · Professional knowledge of implementing and maintaining HSE management systems such as ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 – Essential · Able to influence positive change across an organisation – Essential · Insulation, gas, oil and renewable industry knowledge and experience – Desirable · Quality management experience – Desirable Salary and benefits Salary – £30,000 - £35,000 Full Time, 12-month fixed term contract
