Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant Required in Swanley, Kent.

An SEN academy set in beautiful grounds in Swanley, Kent require a teaching assistant to start full time work with them as soon as possible. This is an inclusive day and residential school, although you would be required to work normal working hours (08:30am – 16:00pm).

This school, set in a large Victorian building, caters for students with various special educational needs including autism, challenging behaviour, moderate to severe learning difficulties and those with speech and language communication difficulties.

The site offers 70 acres of land, a forest school for outdoor learning, a steel band, sensory gardens, a tennis court and plenty of parking for driving employees. The curriculum offered at this school is based on the national curriculum, but tailored to meet the needs of each specific pupil.

Your role:

* Provide 1:1 and small group support for children in a key stage 4 class
* Full time role, Monday to Friday 08:30am – 16:00pm
* You will use PECs and/or Makaton – prior knowledge of these is desirable although training is available
* Work effectively with the class teacher and other teaching assistants in providing behaviour support
* Long term position with the potential to become permanent for the right person

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
