Our Client are a Niche operation in the Financial Services Sector with state of the art offices situated in Leeds with easy access from both public transport and motorway networks. There is an opportunity for a Qualified ACA / ACCA or equivalent accountant to join them for a 15 month contract to cover maternity leave, this will include a handover at either end of the assignment. The role will manage financial and investment accounting and reporting operations at the organisation to ensure that the financial control environment meets the current and future needs of the organisation. Responsibilities will include: -To manage the process for the timely production of Annual Report and Accounts, including liaison with external auditors and assurance of compliance with relevant legislation and accounting standards. -Control and maintenance of the financial control framework of the business, including maintenance of the policies and procedures manual, maintenance of the delegated authorities document, ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, monitoring of management controls and management of the relationship with internal audit. - To manage the financial accounting operations of the business, including the posting of accounting transactions, the production of a financial accounting and investment accounting month-end and provision of financial information to employers. - Management of the relationship with the outsourced administration provider, ensuring information and money flows efficiently between the two entities. - To manage the engagement with the organisation's investment team, fund managers and custodian with regards to investment accounting and associated systems, risks and controls. - To oversee the banking and processing of contributions and benefit payments. - To manage the VAT process to include production of VAT returns, reconciliation of VAT amounts, maintenance of records including policies and annual adjustment calculations, and liaison with advisors. - To operate the scheme allocations process in respect of income and costs and complete scheme specific quarterly expense reports. - To complete Income and Corporation Tax returns as required. - To initiate and lead financial projects as required. - Manage the Financial Accounts Team and Investment Accounts Team members as required, and develop engagement throughout the team, so that they are able to fulfil their potential and achieve the team's aims and objectives. - To support the leadership of the Finance team in their activities and projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate a flexible approach to their work, strong technical accounting and good interpersonal and communication skills.
