Job Type: Contract, 9 Months You will be working with claims for public funding. Mathematical ability, financial awareness and a general understanding of how tax payers money is administered is desirable PURPOSE OF THE POST The primary purpose of this post is to assist in the successful delivery of significant sums of government and European funding across the West of England, helping to ensure that the funding is successfully implemented in accordance with all relevant legislation, funding conditions and the administrative processes of the LEP and WECA as set down in our Assurance Framework and fund specific grant offer letters. The Funding Officer will provide a case officer function for the Accountable Body team and to external stakeholders, particularly, but not limited to, beneficiaries of the funding. Their work will help in the creation/safeguarding of jobs and the levering of private sector investment into the West of England economy. The post holder will use their excellent communication skills in advising both beneficiaries, or potential beneficiaries of funding. Advice will centre around claiming and monitoring procedures. In contributing to the guardianship of the funding, they will utilise their knowledge in the field of project case work to assess and mitigate against risk, spot and bring to fruition opportunities in furthering successful implementation of funding, assist in the robust assessment of applications, analyse claims and make recommendation for payments to be made to fund beneficiaries/organise for remedial action (including visits) to be ta QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience. Experience of working in a large public sector organisation. Significant experience of communicating (written and oral) with a wide range of people, but particularly external stakeholders, and of explaining technical/complex information in an easy to understand manner. Ability to work individually with minimum supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to interpret complex regulations/legislation. Knowledge of effective records management process and their application, particularly in ensuring project files remain audit proof and that file security is upheld. Highly motivated with the demonstrable experience of achieving personal and contributing to the achievement of team objectives. Knowledge of project management, including a good understanding, and demonstrable use of, key performance indicators. Highly proficient in the use of standard Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel. Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and focus on what is important and with the confidence to constructively challenge existing working practices.
