Please Note: This role is initially for 2 months. The required hours/day to work will vary each week. Advance notice will be given of the times/days. You will need to be available for all. Summary: * Provide professional advice to ensure compliance with the statutory appeals processes and the law and Statutory Code of Practice on Admission Appeals and Exclusion Reviews in relation to the independent school appeals process * Manage appeal hearings compliance with the law and relevant codes of practice and provide independent advice on procedure and legislation * Provide professional and impartial advice to appellants about the appeals processes in general and the procedure at appeal panel hearings and decisions reached Skills Required: Relevant experience Relevant degree Clearly evidence of continuous professional development and understanding of industry best practice and broader commercial awareness Good knowledge and understanding of legal, technical, and procedural issues relating to school admission and exclusion appeals Specialist practical knowledge of delivering the independent schools appeals service and statutory appeals process. Purpose: Oversee the statutory appeals process to ensure that all appeals are processed in accordance with statutory requirements and procedural codes of practice Responsibilities: Provide professional advice to ensure compliance with the statutory appeals processes and the law and Statutory Code of Practice on Admission Appeals and Exclusion Reviews in relation to the independent school appeals process Manage appeal hearings compliance with the law and relevant codes of practice and provide independent advice on procedure and legislation Provide professional and impartial advice to appellants about the appeals processes in general and the procedure at appeal panel hearings and decisions reached Specific Qualifications and Experience: Ability to critically challenge reports/documents with credibility Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure and manage conflicting priorities Experience of achieving results through influence, negotiation and effective advocacy Good knowledge of ICT including Excel, Word, Outlook and other programmes relevant to the role Authoritative knowledge of the work practices, processes and procedures (including legal and regulatory requirements and the risks of non compliance) relevant to own area of work, including broader commercial awareness Proactive approach to a complex case load, understanding different customer needs Provide complex and specialist advice on a range of issues within set guidelines Analyse data and interpret customer information, highlighting relevant trends or issues to managers in order to support informed decision making Co-ordinate processes and systems in relation to work flow management Personal Qualities and Attributes: High standards of personal conduct, honesty, integrity, political impartiality, probity and credibility that inspires trust and confidence Ability to work effectively and calmly under pressure and meet tight deadlines Must be able to travel, using public or other forms of transport where they are viable, or by holding a valid UK driving licence with access to own or pool car Coach others to support their professional development Encourage and listen to new ideas from everyone and be positive about change
