Due to continued success and growth, we are now looking to recruit a Chemist for our team at one of our Energy Recovery Facilities (ERF).

ERF Chemist Role:

The ERF Chemist ensures that the ERFs are brought up to the latest standards and best practice in Boiler and Feed Water-Steam cycle chemistry, maintaining availability, throughput and generation efficiency, consistent with an overriding priority for process safety and environmental compliance. You will assist the local ERF and asset management in the careful chemistry control, reaction to variances, monitoring, assessing corrosion damage/ deposition problems in the boiler, feedwater and condensing systems and the protection of the superheater and steam turbine due to impurities.

The ERF Chemist will overview the fleet Air Pollution Control Residues, Incinerator Bottom Ash and Anaerobic Digestion processes in conjunction with site chemists and EHSQ personnel for compliance and improvements, contributing to overall Viridor's chemical engineering and recycling matters. You will also ensure that potential solutions to the root causes of variances and other causes of underperformance are identified, assessed and costed with justified recommendations for the preferred solutions, working in conjunction with Operations, Engineering, EPC contractors, Owners' Engineers and other relevant specialists.

Our ideal ERF Chemist will have:

- Chemical engineering experience to enable effective review of technical issues
- Experience in chemical operations, engineering and maintenance of process industry or power plants
- Experience working with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
- Extensive experience in process chemistry role
- Educated to HND / Degree level
- Extensive and proven knowledge of the process, steam and electricity generation plant
- Legislative knowledge within the waste industry
- Strong communication and analytical skills with an ability to address technical issues
- Full Driving License
