The Role

We're currently looking for a Graduate Energy Market Analyst - Trading, Risk and Regulation to join our team in Power Portfolio Management. This new role will support the energy risk management practise across Viridor and Pennon Group PLC and ensure energy risk compliance. Further responsibilities will include reporting and promoting the work of the Power Portfolio Management team across Viridor and Pennon Group and support the work of others in the energy businesses. You'll also support the delivery of energy risk management and energy trading activities.

As our new Graduate Energy Market Analyst in this role, you'll work on the development of pricing and valuation models which will improve optimisation of existing assets and development of new generation capacity. You'll also develop position papers and impart some innovative thinking around systems and processes related to the Power Portfolio Management deliverables to the business.

The Ideal Graduate Energy Market Analyst

A strong communicator and relationship builder, you'll build positive relationships with stakeholders across the business at all levels. You'll be degree level qualified and possess market analysis experience relevant to this role. You'll also have project work as part of your studies that can demonstrate strong and engaging/in-depth reporting methods.

You'll have a good understanding of economic principles and general market supply and demand drivers.

You'll be a real team player with excellent numeracy, analytical and communication skills, confident with decision making and a high degree of motivation and resilience. Initiative and problem solving are key skills to help undertake work and identify new opportunities.

Programming skills such as VBA, Python, SQL, Matlab would be desirable but not essential, as would experience or knowledge of working in an energy business.

The role will be based in Rochester with some travel therefore a full driving license is required.
