VPI Immingham is a combined heat and power plant near Immingham, on the south bank of the river Humber. It is one of the largest CHP plants in Europe, capable of generating 1240MW – approx 2.1% of UK electricity peak demand and up to 930 tonnes of steam per hour. Safety is at the core of the business and great care is taken to ensure the safety of personnel, and to protect the surrounding environment. We are a team of just over 60 people so team work, empowerment and responsibility are vital to our success and we are looking for 2 new people to join our team.

Project Development Engineer

(please quote reference PDE)

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will work with the Project Co- Ordinator, and be accountable for planning and managing the engineering of a development opportunity under the guidance of the Project Developer/Stake Holder.

Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities :

- Develop the basic outline for review, produce designs and configurations for the new development. Lead the new development whilst handling other opportunities under consideration whilst maintaining focus on the main goal.
- Develop alternative solutions to the initial scope for discussion.
- Manage work assigned to external companies and make recommendations on and manage the use of external consultants when required.
- Operate and produce output from the software modelling suites when an opportunity is in the initial stage.
- Carry out technical reviews, studies and required calculations to demonstrate technical viability.
- Provide and present technical information to verify the assumptions made on technical grounds.
- Include all relevant CGP/SHE policies within the design concept, with particular emphasis on operational safety.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

- Chartered Engineer with several years of experience of Power Engineering process

- Engineering, Project Engineering and Design for Power Plants Process and/or related industrial plants.
-  Good experience with design and construction codes applying to power plant and construction
- Ability to use all necessary software programs to be able to challenge the data produced
- Liaison with other plant engineers
