Main responsibilitiesConnecting our Future is a two-year programme - year one is split into three four-month placements designed to develop your understanding of our customers in three of these four areas: Customer Contact Centre, Branch Network, Operations and Digital.

The second year is made up of two six-month placements designed to show you how our teams connect with each other to deliver outstanding customer experiences and ultimately, to discover your career path passion. We’ll work with you to match the business need with your aspirations and you’ll have a choice of all areas of the business, including:  IT, Marketing, Digital, HR, Risk, Finance, Branch, Customer Contact Centre, Audit and Operations.
Ideal candidatePeople are at the heart of everything we do at Skipton, so you’ll need to value the strengths and differences of everyone you meet. Your ability to respond to change will be important, too - not just to adapt to changes in the fast moving financial services industry - but also to deal with the changing requirements of your colleagues.

You’ll need to be resilient, ready to take the initiative and constantly driven to succeed, with the ability to take ownership of your development and focus on your own growth. We’re asking a lot, but we’re offering a lot, too so, while experience isn’t important your outlook definitely is. We welcome people who will squeeze every drop out of their apprenticeship but most of all, work hard and enjoy it.

- Danny Dixon, Treasury and Finance Planning Assistant

“I had no intention of going to university after completing my A levels, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Numbers had always interested me, so the chance to learn about different roles in a financial services organisation with a view to possibly going into accountancy really appealed.

“Connecting our Future is a great way to ‘try before you buy’ in different departments as well as getting a qualification. I’ve made lots of connections, gained lots of knowledge, and now I’m proud to be Skipton’s new Treasury & Finance planning assistant.”
About the companyWhen you join our apprenticeship programme, you’ll be welcomed in by supportive people who are keen to see you do well, all within a high performing organisation that encourages colleagues to be curious and challenge the mainstream. We’re on the Times Top 100 Companies to Work For list and we’re the only building society in the UK to achieve Platinum accreditation from Investors in People.

Connecting our Future is open to anybody who has 80 UCAS points or relevant experience and is flexible about where they work, because some placements will be at our head office in Skipton and some will be in a local branch.

Applications for 2018 are now open and will close on Friday 1st June. Assessment Centres will run during weeks commencing 9th July and 16th July, with successful applicants starting on Thursday 30th August.
