Job Type: Contract, 3 Months Start Date: ASAP Main tasks and responsibilities: To ensure that the lift services within the councils housing stock are installed, serviced and maintained to a standard and quality required. Use technical expertise to inspect, specify and analyse repairs required to lifts (including major defects). To include the production and presentation of detailed technical specifications and reports using the councils computer systems. Monitor and check repairs and maintenance work to ensure that they are complete to the required standard within agreed timescales. Maintain control of costs by specifying accurately and completely all relevant work. Manage and monitor installation, service and maintenance contracts to ensure compliance with the Councils requirements. Technical support in disrepair cases, ensuring that repairs are carried out on time and in line with agreed standards. To compile technical reports and all other relevant documentation for presentation at court. To represent the council at court if required. Manage contractor performance on a daily basis. Manage a team of engineers. Undertake inspections of works and to be accountable for sign off to ensure that statutory requirements are fulfilled as a tester of lifts. Candidate profile: Qualification in Lift Engineering services to HND/HNC level or equivalent. Knowledge of relevant types of lift installations (current and legacy) and remedial works. Working knowledge of all relevant Lift regulations including the current IEE wiring regulations, Health & Safety, CDM regulations etc Detailed understanding of all related Regulations, Standards, Codes of Practice and Health and Safety procedures. To have undertaken Asbestos Awareness and Working at Heights training Sound and extensive experience of:- Lift installation, maintenance and service work. Diagnostic and quality control inspections. Producing detailed technical reports and specifications in electronic form. Site supervision relating to installation, service and repair & maintenance contracts from inception to completion, including attendance and participation in site/technical meetings. Must a valid U.K driving licence. Must be sufficiently mobile to be able to carry out the tasks required, i.e. need to be able to climb ladders, walk over uneven ground, work within confined spaces and work at heights. Have experience of organising and managing teams. Have the necessary technical expertise to complete legal requirements as a tester of lifts. Be able to demonstrate extensive experience as a tester in a variety of settings.
