The Role:

Research, investigate, design and develop mechanical components, sub-assemblies and mechanisms. Define, manage and oversee testing and validation at component and sub system level.

Key Responsibilities:

Research, design, develop, and test components and system level assemblies. Research and analyse design proposals / specifications. Apply technical expertise on complex components or projects with minimal supervision. Lead small projects. Participate as a key contributor and is accountable for project success. Troubleshoots complex problems and recommends appropriate actions.

Skills and Competencies:

Engineering General - Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability. Team player and detail oriented. Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas. Advanced ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations. Advanced ability to read and interpret technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports. Previous experience with computer applications and software related to the engineering field. Experience of Turbomachinery, rotating equipment and / or valves would be preferred.

Product Integration, Verification & Validation - Understands and applies processes, tools / skills involved in verifying and validating a solution to a problem, which is embodied in the statement of the requirements. Testing is a multi-stage process that consists of activities for validating the product, from the most primitive elements up to the fully integrated system. The verification / validation includes activities such as component testing, integration testing, system testing, performance testing, acceptance testing, and installation testing.

Design / Development - Capable in the use Integrated Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (iDFMEA). Capable of assignment of functional requirements from system to subsystem, subsystem to component and management of interfaces. Methods and tools include boundary diagrams, function and interface analysis, critical parameter flow, Pugh Concept Selection and Inventive Problem Solving, Design Structure Matrix, iDFMEA and FTA.

Manage Execution - Coordinates across, teams, and departments on projects. Applies a broad range of planning and monitoring tools. Defines planning and review practices that result in few missed milestones and minimal surprises. Measures effectiveness of execution through defined metrics and disciplined monitoring.

Effective Meetings - Has user proficiency and has significant experience in effective meetings.

Schedule Management - Identification and tracking work tasks, and timing for a project. Significant experience in schedule management.

Qualifications - PhD, Masters of Science, Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in engineering required.

Experience - Significant engineering experience required (5 years minimum)
