A special school based in the South Croydon area of London are seeking support staff to assist with supervising students at lunch time – starting in September 2018 and lasting up to Christmas in the first instance, but with potential to continue throughout the year and to become a permanent role for the right person.

Our client is looking to recruit someone who has a good understanding of what is required to work with students who have severe autism. The school need someone to start in September 2018 and work for two hours each day between the hours of 11:30am and 1:30pm.

You must have experience of working with children, although this may or may not come from a classroom based setting.

Successful candidates will be able to provide personal care, including toileting assistance, and be able to assist with feeding students who are not fully capable of doing so themselves.

Training for working with children who have special needs is desirable but not mandatory as Teaching Personnel do offer CPD courses. The ability to develop rapport with students who have additional needs and a good understanding of their needs is crucial though. All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
