You will be part of a team which support the council's programme to modernise social housing as part of its vision to develop the town through its Future Town Future Council programme. You will undertake a full range of building surveying and contract administration services relating to the delivery of its capital programme.

You will be involved in various aspects of building surveying including:

* Carry out building / stock condition and dilapidation surveys preparing reports on findings
* Identify building defects and provide recommendations for repair
* Investigating selection of appropiate materials and methods of construction
* Preparing budget and s20 notice estimates, costs, detailed drawings, specifications and schedule of works
* Assisting in the s20 consultation process, including face to face consultation with residents both during normal working hours and ocasionally in the evening
* Preparing design and detailed construction drawings
* Making Building Control and planning applications
* Contract Administration of projects, issuing certificates as required under the contract, issuing variation orders, certifying contract payments and final accounts. This will also include visiting site ensuring that the works are carried out in accordance with the contract.

The successful candidates will ideally have knowledge and experience of contract management delivered in a social housing or local authority environment. The candidate will be committed to delivering excellent customer service, hold a relavent related qualifciation, ideally be a member of RICS or CIOB and be able to effectively manage and prioritise their own workload.
