Nursery Practitioner - Surrey

Salary: Salary is negotiable, if you have all the experiences we require then a higher salary is open.
Permanent, 40 hours per week, to start ASAP
Open mon to fri 7.30-6, hours would include a half day each week
What we are looking for?
Responsible for: To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the nursery to give support to other personnel in the Nursery. To implement the daily routine in the base room

Duties and responsibilities

- Operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in conjunction with other staff. To use your initiative to plan and prepare exciting play opportunities for all children`s developmental needs and stimulate their learning and integration within the nursery.
- To keep an accurate, up to date records on your key children.
- Work with parents to provide full integration of all children into the nursery. Liaise with and support parents and other family members. Establish and maintain positive relationships with children and their families in a way that values parental involvement.
- Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
- To be involved in out of working hours` activities, e.g., staff training, Parent Evenings and four monthly staff meetings.
- To be flexible within working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help, where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, e.g., preparation of snack meals, cleaning equipment, etc.
- Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the nursery is fulfilled.
- Work under the Senior Practitioner within your rooms, support them and liaise with them.
- Ensure all nursery procedures are followed correctly, e.g. recording of accidents, administration of medication and the collection of children.
- Respect the confidentiality of all information received.
- Undertaking of specific childcare tasks: The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child`s stage of development. To ensure that mealtimes are a valuable social occasion. Washing and changing children, as required.
- To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of all children and to abide by the Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To provide a service that respects children`s life experiences and celebrates diversity in terms of language, culture, ability, race and religion.
- To be aware of the high profile of the Nursery and to uphold its standards at all times.
- To work effectively as part of a team.
- To exhibit good communication skills with all staff, parents, carers, and visitors.
- To ensure meal times are a valuable social occasion
- To ensure Adventure books and other information from home is acknowledged by the Key person and any comments required from the setting are kept regular.
- To complete children`s information sheets on a daily basis, ensuring every child has a daily sheet that is made personal to that individual child`s day at Nursery.
- Use initiative to check things such as duties rota to ensure the day to day running of the nursery is maintained.
- To pass on any issues of concern to appropriate Senior Practitioner or Management.
