Summary

A leading Pharmaceutical company in Worthing has created a new position within its Sterile Production team, focusing on manufacturing liquid vaccines. We are looking for someone with precision, manual dexterity and attention to detail, who takes pride in their work and is happy to be in a Sterile production environment, wearing a full protection suit. If you have worked in a regulated setting (e.g. GMP, ISO, sterile / aseptic etc) and are used to following SOPs, for precision work that requires constant focus, we would love to hear from you. This is a permanent position with a starting salary of £18,000, rising to £18,500 after your training (typically 5-6 months). You will work 7am-3pm Monday to Friday, apart from in busier months (around August – November) when you may be required to work slightly longer hours.

The Company

A pioneering Pharmaceutical organisation working with biological substances to assist drug development and produce innovative new treatments for people worldwide. The company is well known in the local area for its positive and supportive working environment. You will be joining a small, collaborative team that forms part of the Primary Production department, preparing substances that will be used in the development and manufacturing of vaccines for patients across several countries. The company is easily accessible by car or train.

The Roles

You will be based in the busy Sterile Production area, where a variety of liquid vaccines are manufactured by hand for individual patients. You will receive an order for a particular drug and manufacture it, within a certain deadline, using a range of methods and tools and following strict procedures. Precision is very important because you will be working with small quantities of ingredients and must ensure that the drugs are made to exact specifications in order maximise their effectiveness and patient safety. You must have good hygiene standards, as the whole production area operates with strict GMP and Health & Safety policies and follows Sterile/Aseptic guidelines.

You will spend a lot of the day on your feet and there will be some lifting (not heavy) involved. Your role will involve manually measuring various substances, using state-of-the art machinery (autoclaves, balances etc) and ensuring that all work in the Production area meets high standards. You will be working in a friendly, welcoming team of people who are genuinely passionate about what the company is doing.

Benefits

In addition to a salary of £18,000 (rising to £18,500 after a few months), the company offers:

- 25 days’ holiday
- Non-contractual, discretionary annual bonus
- Life insurance
- Pension
- Private healthcare

Experience

We are looking for a committed, hard-working individual who has some experience from a regulated clean room environment and is keen to learn all about the highly controlled manufacture of patient-specific drugs, made to order by hand.

You do not necessarily need experience in a GMP-regulated Pharmaceutical company, but this would be a significant advantage. You must be happy to wear full protective overalls (including 2 pairs of gloves) in order to work in the sterile environment. You will at least need to have worked somewhere that requires excellent attention to detail and precision. Candidates will be considered from industries such as Food, Medical Devices, Precision Engineering, Lab Testing (including microbiology testing), Diagnostics etc. If you have worked in a GMP clean room environment, or a sterile area, it would be a very strong advantage, but this is not essential. Above all else, we want someone with excellent communication skills, good numeracy skills, an honest and likeable manner, and the ability to work in a role that requires constant attention to detail.
