Position Summary

We are recruiting new Locomotive Technicians for our Depot in Leeds. Moving the business forward, we are engaging our Technicians on a graduated competency base ensuring our teams are rewarded for their efforts and applied skills

The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting the maintenance, service and repairs on the Organisations Diesel Locomotive Fleet in line with company Standards and Procedures

Person Profile/Experience:

A skilled Technician, ideally time served, you will have previous experience of undertaking maintenance, service and repair work on diesel locomotives or failing that be a skilled/time served motor mechanic with experience of working on cars, vans, HGV's or mobile plant. You'll have the ability to make sound engineering decisions undertake diagnostics/fault finding and repair both at Depot and out in the field and will have exemplary communication skills, written and oral.

Adhere to health and safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards. Comply with all instructions, rules and regulations in force
Maintain, service, and fault find and repair Locomotives in accordance with the approved maintenance plans as required by the local Manager
Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed on time and to required company standards

You will be physically fit and healthy, you will be required to undertake a NWR related medical and drugs & alcohol test which must be passed before any offer can be made, have a good sense of humour and be prepared to work outdoors where required. You will ideally have a full driving license (carrying no more than 6 points) and be flexible enough to travel to other local sites in the region from time to time

Due to the nature of the work/role, an appreciation of H&S at work is essential, plus in line with Rail Industry Protocols there is a zero policy re being under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol

Qualifications:

Time Served or relevant Engineering Qualification
Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in a Mechanical/Electrical fitting skill set
Experience essential
