This is an excellent opportunity to develop your senior culinary career driving the food operation for our contract with South Tyneside College.  In this role, you will provide menu and food offer development and lead the daily student feeding operation across multiple sites situated North and South of the Tyne.

The opportunity is therefore suited to individuals with culinary leadership skills and experience of volume catering across multiple sites. The role would also suit those who are passionate about how we engage today’s students via technology and high street trends.

Main responsibilities
Lead the delivery, production and strategy for food/hospitality services (refectories) across 3 colleges, a school and a technical college. This is a £3M t/o contract, catering for up to 10,000 customers.
Oversee the management of a team of 14 Chefs to ensure a high quality service is delivered, providing coaching and training when required.
Manage the kitchen operation including paperwork and administration
Develop the service offering and lead the engineering of menus and food innovation for the site.
Have responsibility for all aspects of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene
Ensure financial documentation and accountancy of the unit (and those from suppliers) is accurate and within agreed budgeted levels

Ideal candidate
Previous experience in a Head Chef or similar group role, with experience of volume catering, retail and hospitality
Excellent managerial skills and experience of managing a team of Chefs
Industry acumen and knowledge of external catering developments and innovations
Good communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels
Good financial awareness
Personal innovation and passion for quality food
Experience working in a standards/compliance environment
