External Communications Manager Tadworth, Surrey 6-month contract Paying up to £29.15 per hour Our client requires a contract External Communications Manager External Communications Manager Purpose: To ensure the development, implementation and measurement of high value strategic communication programmes to support business priorities at Corporate, Business Unit and brand levels. External Communications Manager ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide strategic, product communications support Devise communication strategies and media programmes Identify threats and opportunities to inform development of strategic communications programmes Manage UK communications agencies, strategic guidance, budget management and performance review Responsibility for the development and approval of media materials/correspondence Lead media issues management for allocated areas, minimise any potential risk to the business/reputation. Act as first point of contact for media across areas of product portfolio Establish strong relationships and align with cross-functional, regional and global colleagues Design and deliver innovative corporate communications. Use knowledge of brand portfolio to help shape input into UK corporate communications activities. Identify opportunities to communicate about corporate initiatives-internally and externally Provide strategic overview of communication programmes Support delivery of relevant regional and global corporate initiatives. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key journalists and media titles. Manage all interaction with external media. Position company as a leading global healthcare organisation in top tier media. Be company media spokesperson. Organise media training Active role in management of company UK Press Office External Communications Manager SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE; QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Essential - previous experience of successfully developing/delivering strategic communications and media relations programmes,(agency or blue chip environments). Experience of all aspects of business communication/media relations Demonstrable experience in managing issues from a media perspective. Excellent communication skills Demonstrable experience of dealing with relevant UK media. Evidence of established media relationships. Good knowledge and understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare in UK Highly developed influencing and negotiating skills knowledge of current communications best practice demonstrated record of achieving excellent media results.
