Senior Project Manager - Highways & Earthworks

Location: Birmingham

"If you want the opportunity to work for a family run main contractor then this is the role for you. Within this growing sector within their business you will play a major role in the successful running of this major Highways & Earthworks project"

The Company

This is an opportunity to work for one the largest privately-owned Infrastructure companies in the UK. A family run business with a turnover approaching 1bn with major plans to double this soon. They specialise within four major industries, Rail, Water, Power and Tunnelling, with offices based over the UK such as the Midlands, North West, and London. This project sits within their rail division, but this is not a rail project! The works will be heavily biased to Highways and Earthworks as part of a major package of enabling works. You will play an important role in keeping this project run on time and to the highest quality it can be!

Ideal Candidate

If you tend to shy away from conversing with clients this role will not be for you. You will communicate with stakeholders as well as clients on a regular basis, your ability to hold your own will be made apparent within these regular meetings. Previous experience on other prestigious projects will put in you in good stead to succeed with this company and propel this project where it needs to be. For you, turning up to work won't be enough, you like to feel that sense of achievement and be able to look back on the work you've done and be proud.

The Role

This is not your average Senior Project Manager role. You will take on responsibility for two+ sites involving Earthworks, Highways, plus key Environmental works. You will be responsible for a team of Project Engineers, an Assistant Project Manager, and the Commercial team. You will manage the design phase through to site works starting and approve any amendments that need signing off. People management is a big part to this role, but your communications skills will assist you when talking to clients, local authorities and land owners. Your people skills will help to transform the culture on site, making it an environment that the team actively want to make inclusive and enjoyable for all.

Qualifications needed are a HNC/HND within Civil Engineering as a minimum. Previous experience within highways construction schemes is critical to this role, new build not maintenance. A knowledge of the commercial side of projects along with HSE, Risk mitigation, and NEC form of contract.

Salary and benefits

* Salary is circa 70k plus car or car allowance and benefits package.
