Youth Worker

A specialist behaviour unit within one of our secondaries in Headington requires experienced youth workers to support all key stage classrooms from KS3-KS4 starting in September 2018. This unit caters for young people who are unable to access the mainstream education and mainstream classroom due to their social and emotional needs. The youth work teaching assistants would be needed on a long term, potentially permanent basis.

The young people at this unit within the school can display challenging behaviours that are shown through verbal and sometimes physical aggression. Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviours is desirable and will benefit when working with the young people within the school.

The youth workers may be supporting within class or, if more suited, with the outreach team supporting young people with their social and emotional development in the community.

It would be desirable for the Youth Worker to have previous experience supporting young people academically. It would also be desirable for the Youth Worker to have relevant verbal and physical de-escalation training. Teaching Personnel are able to provide relevant training if needed.

If you would like to be considered for this position, please send a CV highlighting your relevant experience to Jessica Lloyd or call the Thames Valley Secondary team on the number below.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
