Our client is England's first Sub-National Transport Body. They were formed to transform the transport system across the North of England, providing the infrastructure needed to drive economic growth. As a partnership, they bring together the North's nineteen local transport authorities and business leaders together with Network Rail, Highways England, and HS2 Ltd and working with Central Government. They enable the North to speak with one voice on the transport infrastructure investment needed to drive transformational growth and rebalance the UK economy. Our client is based across the North, with offices in Manchester and Leeds and have colleagues working within local transport bodies across the North. They will not replace or replicate the work of existing local transport bodies. Their role is to add strategic value by ensuring that funding and strategy decisions about transport in the North are informed by local knowledge and requirements. This fits with the devolution agenda and they will draw powers down from central government rather than up from local government. Our client is looking to recruit: This project related role is required for a fixed term period up until September 2019, and will support the management, control and/or delivery of projects of work to meet defined objectives in support of an Integrated and Smart Travel Programme. The primary purpose of the role will be to deliver/assist the management of projects or programmes of work, ensuring appropriate use of resources to deliver the required scope of work within set deadlines., whilst developing plans and monitoring performance to ensure agreed milestones are met. The post-holder's responsibilities will include the active contribution to the PMS function and organisational procedures, support on the delivery of the intended deliverables, timelines and outcomes of identified customer information and innovation initiatives as part of the activity on Phase 1, or 3 within the IST programme. What they're looking for: The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent, or possess an equivalent professional qualification. You will have demonstrable post qualification experience in multi-stakeholder projects using Prince2 methodology, combined with experience in the successful management of a Programme Management Office. Using your previous experience, you will display the ability to write concise technical and non-technical reports for a range of political, professional and lay-person audiences. Proven experience of successful partnership working with a range of third parties as well as maintaining good communication and building/managing relationships with stakeholders is key. Knowledge and experience in the transport industry is essential and as you will be exposed to budget management, you must also possess a level financial awareness and previous knowledge of cost control.
