Payroll Officer - Exeter - 6 Month Contract - �10 per hour Umbrella



Our client are a large public sector organisation currently looking for a payroll administrator.

The successful candidate will be involved in performing the day to day input of Payroll changes, as part of a cost effective Payroll service to customers, managers, Members of the Local Authority and external customers.
The post holder will be involved in:

Ensuring timely and accurate payroll data input on to the DCC Oracle HR Management System, known as PRiSM.
Mentoring a group of Level 1 Payroll Officers and developing their understanding in Payroll knowledge and skills
Check the input of Level 1 and 2 Payroll Officers
Calculation of emergency payments
Telephone, letter and e-mail enquiries on difficult payroll issues e.g. complex National Insurance, Pension and Income Tax queries and complex salary and sickness calculation questions.
User Acceptance Testing as required by the Systems Team


Main Duties and Responsibilities

Payroll Service Support: Provide a comprehensive and efficient HR support and advice service to customers in accordance with SLAs/Alternative Portfolio for Schools and/or budgetary constraints. Support the Team Leader (Payroll) and Senior Team Leader (Payroll) by the input of more complex payroll data, allowing the delivery of effective corporate human resource management systems and processes. On behalf of the Devon Local Education Authority, provide statutory services to schools in respect of the employment of teaching staff. Apply the HR Service and DCC policies and practices in the Payroll teams. Maintain the probity of the corporate payroll function through full adherence to documented policies and processes. Ensure effective planning and delivery, monitoring, auditing and evaluation of HR Service through collection and analysis of key performance data and in accordance with best practice.
