IT Support Engineer

Location: Beckton, London

Salary: �25,000 (Dependent on qualifications / experience)

Established in 1967, our client is a London-based bullion merchant dealing in Gold, Silver, Platinum, Palladium and Rhodium. In addition to producing its own minted bars in various sizes, our client also offers its clients metal account facilities in both allocated and unallocated form. With further divisions for refining, "melt & assay", storage, industrial products, numismatic coins, wedding rings and picture frames, our client is the only company in the UK that can rightly claim to be a true all round expert and one-stop-shop for all precious metal needs. The company employs over 60 people and operates primarily out of 30,000 sq. ft of high security premises near City Airport.

Duties of the IT Support Engineer:

* Providing technical support to staff and maintaining a record of IT requests in the log file.
* Maintaining accurate information on users and IT equipment.
* Creating and managing user accounts in multiple IT systems.
* Monitoring the organisation's virtual and physical server infrastructures.
* Developing the skills of the staff to use systems and equipment more confidently and effectively.
* Monitoring the organisation's Office 365 cloud services.
* Carrying out patching and updating of IT hardware such as laptops and desktops.
* Carrying out repairs and servicing of IT equipment as allocated by the IT Director.
* Supporting the Finance Director on support and project work as required. This may include leading on small development projects, and supporting the communication and training required to roll out new systems to staff.
* Escalating IT issues to the Finance Director where necessary.
* Taking responsibility for managing backups and tape rotation.
* Diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
* Undertaking small to medium-sized IT projects as instructed by the Finance Director
* Providing desktop and server support.
* Other duties as required by the business

Requirements of the IT Support Engineer:

* Experience and knowledge of PC and server operating systems and services including Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, Microsoft Office 2013, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft DNS, DHCP and Microsoft SQL Server.
* Experience of working on an IT helpdesk or in a 1st or 2nd line support role, including frequent contact with users and others on IT issues.
* Experience of providing customer focused IT support.
* Experience of communicating complex IT issues in a clear and understandable way to non-IT experts.
* Experience of problem determination/resolution
* Good understanding of the principles of data communications including Ethernet, WIFI and VPN setup and installation.
* Thorough knowledge of computer fundamentals.
* Knowledge of peripheral and software operations including word processing, spreadsheets, database management and system management software.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise own programme of work.
* Proven experience of completing tasks that require good accuracy.
* Good at using own initiative to solve problems.
