Job Position: Software Applications Engineering Team Leader

Reporting To: Software Manager

Job Status: Permanent

Job Profile: Responsible for leading a software team that will focus on the modification and extension of our client’s existing software particularly in the area of factory automation and machine control

Education, Skills
& Experience: Essential:
• Educated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate discipline.
• Customer facing experience.
• Software development:
o C# and/or C++
o control of electro-mechanical or robotic systems.
o development in a multi-threaded environment.
o design and architecture experience
o use of appropriate code management and issue tracking tools.
• Advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
• Strong leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
• Ability to develop software in an agile environment using a TDD approach.
• Communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.
• Customer focus.
• Proactive approach to problem resolution.
• A high degree of flexibility in a continuously changing environment.
• Visual Studio 2015 or later.
• Software development on 64-bit Windows 7 & 10 platforms.
• Strong leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills.
• Good numerical skills.

• Experience leading a team of software developers and the control of associated personnel issues.
• Understanding of X-Ray inspection and materials testing.
• Experience of working in or with semiconductor fabrication plants
• Experience of tool to factory host communication and understanding of appropriate standards including SECS/GEM.
• Experience of automated wafer handling equipment.
• Source code and Issue Tracking systems experience.

Job Duties &
• Sales and applications work with customers regarding integration of our client’s tools with their factory environments.
• Oversee software development interfaces between our client’s tools and factory hosts using industry standards to give high reliability and excellent user experience.
• Define and oversee software development of bespoke customer interfaces to our client’s tools.
• Liaise with software team technical leads.
• Support and debug field issues.
• Visit customer sites when necessary to optimise relationships regarding factory automation.
• Responsible for leading a team of software developers.
• Transfer code into volume manufacture.
• Support and debug field issues.
• Ensure that all staff are adequately trained to meet the required business objectives, with regular reviews of training and development needs, together with the evaluation of training delivered for effectiveness.
• Ensure objectives and goals are clearly understood and effectively communicated.
• Control of personnel issues for responsible staff.
• Carry out performance reviews on responsible staff.
• Maintenance of Health and Safety and 5S in areas of responsibility.
• Ensure regular liaison and co-working with interfacing departments to resolve any issues that may affect the performance of the operations.
• Any other reasonable duties.

Travel Required
• Regular travel between Buckinghamshire and Essex dependent upon business needs. Some international travel to customer sites.
