Supply Chain Controller - Wellham Green

Salary - £25k - £32k + 25 day holiday + public holidays +Contributory Pension

Hours of Work - 39hrs Mon - Thu 8am - 5pm Fri 8am - 1pm

The Client
Our client is a long established UK manufacturer and supplier for the design and production of gearing systems and specialises in the supply of standard, catalogue, and power transmission products.
Exporting a wide range of components worldwide, with their customer base including; Aerospace, Defence, Medical, Industrial and Automotive sectors, for prototype, development and production requirements.

The Role
The company are looking to recruit a supply chain controller to support the Operations Director and production team in all aspects of the supply chain administration function, maintain the supply chain KPIs and report monthly statistics.

Minimum 5 years` experience as a mechanical tradesperson in manufacturing
Experience of purchasing subcontract precision machined components, surface coatings and heat treatment, production materials, non-stock goods and spares, engineering supplies, production consumables, small tools / maintenance supplies and general factory consumables
Experience of Aerospace and Defence quality certification and procedures (previous experience of ITAR would be useful)
A general understanding of technical drawings, mechanical power transmission products
An understanding subcontracting processes (heat treatment; machining; surface finishing) would be an advantage.
Thorough understanding of logistics processes as parts are regularly moved to and from processing suppliers
Strong negotiating skills, able to make cost savings in a variety of areas
Able to support multi shift factory operations (5 days week)
Ability to work across a number of disciplines, comprehend technical requirements of the items being purchased, have MRP exposure and understand modern lean manufacturing techniques for optimising supply chain, stock turn management and stock control
Competent computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
Capable of reporting and maintaining associated KPIs on a monthly basis
Oversee ordering of tools and consumables ensure best prices are achieved.
Lead, promote & maintain awareness and compliance of H&S in accordance with best practice and legal requirement. Manage the ES&H outsourced resource.
Take part in suppliers Quality Improvement projects,
Work closely and enthusiastically with CI Leader and continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required
To travel, as required, to suppliers, customers and business need.
