An exciting opportunity has become available to work within our busy health care setting. A weekend chef role has become available at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital to provide freshly cooked Meals for various patient needs including private and NHS as well as our own Cystic fibrosis unit.

The role will include all cooking and implementation of all Health and safety related procedures. The successful candidate will be required to have a high understanding of food safety including HACCP.

Perm contract at £9.57 per hour and Friday, Saturday & Sunday 09:30am – 6.00pm, 24 hours per week.

Applicant must be flexible to cover Annual leave and sickness within the team.

Main responsibilities
To work alongside the Patient catering manager to ensure all team members & Host/ Hostess are completing daily and weekly jobs.
Responsible for the front line patient catering food within the hospital.
To have a close working relationship with the clinical staff to ensure a quick response to all queries raised regarding patient food
To organize, oversee and develop Menu’s and patient experience and look for new opportunities to improve the quality and standards of the service and constantly look for new opportunities to improve the service.
Responsible for all Haccp Related documentation of Compass/Medirest Kitchen standards.
Undertake and complete  any Medirest Training or trust Ad-hoc workshops
To satisfy the needs of the patients whilst ensuring the Host/Hostess are achieving the service and product delivery standard.
To plan, organize and assist  the Host/Hostess service operation to ensure that quality, presentation and service are provided to the standards required
To review potential cost reductions and service improvements to the standards as required and discuss with the Service Manager.
Communicate and report back to catering manager update from weekend service.

Ideal candidate
Good command of the English language with a passion for patient care and be able to liaise closely with ward staff
Good understanding of dietary requirements
Awareness of food & hygiene standards
Must have a 'Can do' attitude
Able to work under pressure, individually and as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast paced healthcare environment and has a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business.
Previous Chef Experience and a passion for progression.
Be aware that this is a hospital environment and at times you will come in contact with patients that are particularly unwell or showing signs of distress.
