English graduate Teaching Assistant- Stockport

Teaching Personnel are working closely with our partner secondary school located in Stockport to source the support of an English graduate Teaching Assistant. This full-time position (initially for a term) represents an exciting role for an English graduate to provide support across all areas within an English department. It also provides a unique opportunity for an English graduate to gain specific school experience prior to potentially completing a PGCE in the future:

* English graduate Teaching Assistant
* To support across all year groups with their English studies.
* To work on a 1-to-1 with identified pupils both in class and within the schools inclusion unit.
* Working alongside 14 experienced teachers within a large English department
* Perfect preparation for any aspiring English teachers.

The role-

Due to the strategic vision of the Senior Leadership team to continue to raise the attainment and progress in English, they wish to add an English graduate Teaching Assistant to compliment their English department in the new academic year. The incoming English graduate Teaching Assistant will have the opportunity to utilise their degree knowledge to support the English department across all year groups.

The specific duties will include tutoring students with exam preparation by working through past examination papers and supporting the new Year 7 cohort with their transition to secondary school i.e. ensuring that they are at the necessary level to access the curriculum accordingly. There will also be general Teaching Assistant duties supporting within lessons across all year groups.

The school-

Our partner secondary school is of average size with just over 1000 pupils on roll. A large percentage of pupils who attend the school are from White British backgrounds. At present, the numbers of students who are eligible for the pupil premium funding is slightly higher than the national average. Pupil behaviour is now considered to be good with Ofsted highlighting that they are proud to attend the school.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
