EAL Support Practitioner needed at a Primary School in Liverpool

-Deliver Interventions to small groups of children in Maths and English

-Use your phonic knowledge to support children with EAL

-Work across all Key Stages in school

An average sized Primary School in the Liverpool area are looking to employ an experienced EAL Support Assistant to work across all Key Stages to deliver interventions to small groups of children. Due to the school having a high amount of children with English as an Additional Language, the need for more support has increased over the past term. The role includes taking out small groups of children and deliver short activities to help EAL children grasp the English Language in order to help them raise attainment. The position is full time Monday to Friday and the Head Teacher has stressed that the Practitioner must have had relevant Phonics training e.g.; Jolly Phonics, Read Write Inc., Letters and Sounds, SEEMA Language Training. Multilingual capabilities would also be a contributing factor to your success if this is something you acquire. You will have a suitable timetable to allocate which year group you will be working with throughout each day. So experience working across KS1 and KS2 is vital.

The School itself is a large one form entry School, and was graded 'Good' by Ofsted. The pupils who attend are predominantly from Asian heritage and the school often have INA (International New Arrivals) children joining the school. Due to this, the Head Teacher wants an experienced Practitioner with at least 1 year or more experience working with children who have English as an Additional Language. The Head Teacher has described the school as 'warm and welcoming' but often 'faces challenging behaviour', due to this, she would like a Support Assistant who has excellent behaviour management and is familiar with current behaviour policies.
