The Company

You will be joining a reputable and firmly established, national rail and civil engineering contractor in the Midlands region with a company turnover of circa �250m (Group TO �500m+). As a specialist civil, building, mechanical and electrical renewals and maintenance business recognised on contracts and frameworks across the country, you will become part of a renowned brand name and team giving you the opportunity to grow in conjunction with this ambitious and forward-thinking business. In recent times, the company has used its repute and solid track record in the rail industry to venture into pastures new and break into working with new clients and industries such as the Environment Agency, Highways England and London Underground to name just a few.

About the Job

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an existing rail specialist team as a Site Manager (or Sub Agent) managing a host of rail civil engineering projects predominantly working on platform projects including new platform installations, platform extensions and platform gauging schemes throughout the North West. Your day to day responsibilities will include but not be limited to the usual management and supervision of site staff including direct labour and subcontractors, health and safety management, quality, production of all relevant paperwork, work package plans, construction phase plans, tool box talks, site briefings etc.

You will manage a large portfolio of varying rail station platform works between now until the end of 2019 but aside from that you may expect to get involved in other associated rail projects valued between �150k and �1m typically including Network Rail infrastructure maintenance and Asset repairs such as bridges, footbridges, station works, embankments, flood alleviation, tunnels etc.

The Ideal candidate

You should have progressed to a minimum of Site Manager or Sub Agent level either from a Site Engineering background or up through the experience route with experience in multi-disciplinary rail civils projects. The Requirements

No need for a degree or HNC/HND but if you have one then great. The most important factor is your experience in rail and ideally working on like for like platform installations, extensions and gauging projects. You will however need to hold some important tickets such as SMSTS, CSCS and PTS to be considered ready to hit the ground running.


As always, the salary on offer is commensurate with experience but you should expect to achieve a competitive salary in the region of �40,000 - �45,000 per annum and you will also be rewarded with an extensive benefits package including a car/car allowance.
