My client is an established education provider in Central London. They are actively recruiting for a Head of Payroll and Pensions on an interim basis until the end of October 2018

Experience of working in a similar position working for Education or Public Sector is highly desirable

Recent of SAP software is essential

Job Purpose

Operational management of the team’s activities to ensure that all work is completed promptly, accurately, to high standards and meeting user needs to improve the performance

**Skills Required**

Day to day:

To manage all payroll via a team of staff, to ensure that all payments (e.g. salaries, overtime claims, ad hoc, employee expenses, or other payments)
To be responsible for providing guidance on the operation of various pension schemes
To take primary role in the continued management and development, configuration and support of SAP payroll/HR system. Ensuring that it complies at all times with all statutory legislation, providing training to staff where necessary.
To monitor continuously all payroll activity, including the operation of the SAP system and to identify and problems or inefficiencies
Control of the team’s day-to-day operational activities
Management of the Payroll team, providing mentoring, development and support to staff.
Key contact for ongoing relationships

Key Responsibilities

Management of team, performance management cycle, mentoring and providing support and guidance for team members.
Responsible for the day to day operation of the team and delivery of an efficient service.
Ensure that internal procedures and processes are regularly reviewed and updated and documented as necessary.
Ensure compliant with HMRC legislation around statutory payments/deductions and taxable benefits.
Good understanding of UK payroll requirements
Contribute to sound internal financial controls by identifying risks and ensuring that relevant controls are put in place to mitigate
Identify and implement changes to processes and systems to improve the service to users.
Interpretation of financial information and provision of advice to senior managers.

**Qualifications Required**

About you

Current user of SAP payroll system with experience in updating SAP for legislative and statutory reporting requirements;
Experience of reviewing current payroll processes and procedures and team capabilities, identifying operating efficiencies and implementing and delivering change;
Good understanding of pension statutory and reporting requirements, ideally in the public sector;
Experience in processing large numbers of ‘ad-hoc’ payments; and
Experience of managing a team; and team player
