A Primary Pupil Referral Unit requires experienced youth workers to support across the KS2 classrooms within their site in South Manchester starting in September 2018. This school caters for young people who are unable to access the mainstream education and mainstream classroom due to their social and emotional needs.

The young people at this school can display challenging behaviours that are shown through verbal and sometimes physical aggression. Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviours is desirable and will benefit when working with the young people within the school.

The youth workers may be supporting within class or, if more suited, with the outreach team supporting young people with their social and emotional development in the community.This position is due to start in February 2018 due to the increase in pupil numbers after the Christmas Holidays. The pupils have settled well into the school but require more specialised focus to improve their attainment levels.

It would be desirable for the Youth Worker to have previous experience supporting young people academically however not essential. It would also be desirable for the Youth Worker to have relevant verbal and physical de-escalation training. Teaching Personnel are able to provide relevant training if needed.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
