Job Position: EHS Engineer – Environmental Health and Safety

Job Status: Contract (long term)

Job Profile:

A unique opportunity to work on fixed term contract to support the cultural EHS change programme at our client’s Construction Products facility.

The role will play an active part in the continual improvement of both the EHS management system and Safety Recipe for cultural improvement.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

You will need to have previous experience in a Health and Safety role within an Environmental company or as the environmental expert within a large company.

You will have qualifications including NEBOSH.

A strong understanding of EHS regulations and corporate standards is essential.

Strong influencing and communication skills are necessary.

A technical degree and NEBOSH Diploma.

Consideration will be given to candidates who have a long standing background within Health and Safety, not necessarily environmental.

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to hourly and salaried personnel to insure employee health and the environment are protected.

Conduct and supervise activities that insure compliance with regulations (HSE, Environment Agency) and corporate policies.

You will manage Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) activities at a small facility and support and deputise for EHS Manager at a medium to large facility.

Reporting to this position are various levels of EHS staff and support personnel.

You will need to coach and facilitate the development of the work group to develop collaborative relationships among themselves, suppliers, other cross functional groups and internal customers to insure goals are achieved.

You will need a breadth of knowledge and experience including EHS regulations, programs and policies.

You will assist operations management in understanding related EHS requirements and their impact on operations.

You will evaluate the impact of impending regulations and communicates these issues to appropriate facility personnel.

You will utilise and present potential modifications of the corporations “best management practice” programs to ensure they meet the needs of the facility.

You will identify common safety, health, environmental hazards inherent in the organizations operations and work with EHS manager to establish guidelines for protection from those hazards.

You will prepare and review EHS training materials for the facility.

You will also be responsible for investigating and establishing standards for protective equipment.

You will perform self-assessments of safety, health, environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.

Salary/Rate: Up to �21 per hour on a Limited company basis.
