Detail Design Engineer

Location: Sheffield

Salary: Competitive

Hours: 36.5 hours per week with an early finish on a Friday

Blatchford is a world leading rehabilitation provider with clinical expertise in prosthetics, orthotics, special seating and wheelchairs. We design and manufacture the multi award-winning Endolite range of lower limb prostheses and provide clinical services to the NHS, military and patients internationally. With 128 years of innovation and expertise behind us, we produce the world's most advanced microprocessor artificial limbs.

We now have an exciting new opportunity for a Detail Design Engineer based in our manufacturing facility in Sheffield. The successful engineer will work closely with our New Product Development team in Basingstoke to focus on our special seating and orthotics products, the aim of which is to enable our patients to get busy living.

Responsibilities of the Detail Design Engineer:

You'll be involved a variety of different activities and projects but you will primarily take responsibility for:

* Providing support to the design and manufacturing engineers to ensure a high quality, accurate design to deadline
* Creation, review and maintenance of technical file documentation such as drawings, bills of materials, specification sheets, instructions for use, etc.
* Taking an active role within cross function teams in the development process
* Supporting production by maintaining the engineering change control process

Requirements of the Detail Design Engineer:

In order to excel in this role the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be technically intuitive, flexible, resourceful, innovative and commercially aware. You will have a good understanding of precision engineering, be self-motivated and have the ability to inspire and train others when required. CAE experience essential, while Solidworks experience is desirable.

You will be HND/HNC qualified in Design/Production Engineering as a minimum. You will ideally have proven experience in a similar role.

You will use your skills and experiences to ensure the timely and robust introduction of new products by working closely with designers and operations colleagues alike.

The nature of the role is results driven so the successful candidate will maintain high standards when working to varying deadlines.
