The Senior Environmental Consultant role:

The Environmental Claims Management (ECM) Division provides contaminated land consultancy services to the insurance industry, managing claims through their whole life cycle including site investigation, risk assessment, remedial strategy design and remediation validation.

OHES Environmental is now seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Environmental Consultant, who can make an immediate contribution and adapt to an environment of growth within the ECM team in Northern Ireland.

The role will be home-based, however the postholder may be required to attend any other group office / site as and when required to ensure customer demand is met.

Duties of the Senior Environmental Consultant:

* Providing specialist consultancy advice and response, mainly to petrochemical incidents;
* Leading and supervising project management of environmental insurance claims throughout their life cycle;
* Liaison with all stakeholders including clients, contractors and homeowners;
* Undertaking investigations to determine the extent and severity of impact and assessing environmental risks;
* Logging of soils during investigations to a high standard and in accordance with best practice;
* Preparing health, safety and environmental documentation including risk assessments and method statements;
* Management of site investigation field and laboratory data;
* Production of interpretive environmental reports including conceptual site models (CSM) and generic quantitative risk assessments (GQRA);
* Undertaking and supporting the design, implementation and verification of environmental remediation works;
* Demonstrating a commitment to ensuring consistently high levels of safety, technical robustness, commercial awareness, organisation and customer satisfaction;
* Undertaking quality assurance and safety performance audits;
* Participating in business development activities as a technical advisor and managing key clients.
* The role can be physically demanding, carrying out site investigations using soil sampling equipment in all terrains and all weather.

Requirements of the Senior Environmental Consultant:

* Have a degree in a relevant earth sciences, or geo-environmental discipline;
* Have at least 4 years' work experience in managing environmental incidents, carrying out contaminated land surveys and site investigations, with knowledge of available drilling techniques;
* Preferably (but not essential) have an MSc in a relevant subject and be a member of a relevant professional organisation;
* Preferably have knowledge of remediation technologies for contaminated soil and groundwater;
* Have the ability to work together in a team and also demonstrate the drive and self-motivation to work independently, with minimal supervision;
* Have the ability to take ownership of and manage projects to meet deadlines and project budgets;
* Have a full clean driving licence.
