We are currently looking for a Junior Chemist to join a growing life sciences manufacturing company based in the Lanarkshire area. As the Junior Chemist you will be responsible for the synthesis and analysis of final products and intermediates.

This could be a fantastic opportunity for a recent chemistry graduate with some relevant hands on experience in synthetic or analytical chemistry.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Junior Chemist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Completion of scheduled work is on time (as per Chemistry Schedule), within budget (as per batch cost) and within specification.

2. All reactions are monitored effectively to avoid work-up of incomplete reactions.

3. Contributions are made to writing and revising of documented procedures. Records of work are complete and accurate.

4. Meet the required key performance indicators:
- Number of batches submitted to QC on time as a % of batches scheduled per month.
- Number of batches within specification (yield and QCS specification) as a % of batches scheduled per month.
- Batches completed on-time.
- Productivity (number of batches/reactions per chemist per month).

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Junior Chemist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a Chemistry based discipline, ideally Synthetic Chemistry, so a subject closely related.

2. Proven hands on experience running chemical reactions. This could have been gained during an academic or industrial placement.
